Our Beliefs

Turning Point is a Christian church and part of the voluntary fellowship of the Assemblies of God. We are committed to the Bible as our authoritative rule of faith and conduct. We believe in salvation through the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. We believe in the power of the Holy Spirit for life and ministry. We believe that God still heals the sick and we look forward to the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. We also believe in the power of  love. This is why our purpose is to follow the words of Jesus, "Love God...Love people." (Matthew 22:37-40)

1. Inspiration of Scripture

The Old and New testaments are Verbally inspired of God and are the revelation of God to man. The scriptures serve as the authoritative rule of faith and conduct for all people who profess to follow Christ.(2 Timothy 3:15-17, 1 Thessalonians  2:13, 2 Peter 1:21)

2. One God Expressed in the Trinity

The one true God has revealed himself as the Eternally self-existent "I AM", the creator of heaven and earth, and the redeemer of mankind. Christ taught a distinction of persons in the Godhead commonly referred to as the Trinity. While there is only one God, we relate to him as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4, Luke 1:25, Isaiah 43:10-11, 1 Corinthians 1:24, Matthew 28:19, 2 Corinthians 13:14, 1 John 1:3-4)

3. The Deity of Jesus Christ

The Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. The scriptures declare His: virgin birth (Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:31,35); sinless life (Hebrews 7:26, 1 Peter 2:22); substitutionary work on the cross (1 Corinthians 15:3, 2 Corinthians 5:21); bodily resurrection from the dead. (Matthew 28:6; Luke 24:39; 1 Corinthians 15:4)

4. The Fall of Man

Man was created good and upright for God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness." However, man rebelled by voluntary sin and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also spiritual death, which is separation from God. (Genesis 1:26-27, 2:17, 3:6, Romans 5:12-19)

5. The Salvation of Man

Man's only hope of redemption is through the shed blood of Jesus Chris, the Son of God. Salvation is received through repentance toward God and faith toward the Lord Jesus Christ. (Luke 24:47, John 3:3, Romans 10:13-15, Ephesians 2:8, Titus 2:11, 3:5-7)

6. The Church

The Church is the community of all true believers for all time. Each believer, born of the Holy Spirit, is an integral part of the church. The church exists to: share the good news (Acts 1:8, Matthew 28:19-20, Mark 16:15-16); worship God as a corporate body (1 Corinthians 12:13); grow and mature into the image of his Son. (Ephesians 4:11-16; 1 Corinthians 12:28; 14:12)

The Ordinances of the Church

Water Baptism

All who repent and believe in Christ are to be baptized by immersion. Baptism symbolizes that a believer has died with Christ and is also raised with Him to walk in newness of life. (Matthew 28:19, Mark 16:16, Acts 10:47-48, Romans 6:4)

Holy Communion

The Lord's Supper, consisting of the elements of bread and wine, is the expression of our sharing in the divine nature of Jesus Christ (1 Peter 1:4), a memorial of His suffering and death (1 Corinthians 11:26), and a prophecy of His second coming (1 Corinthians 11:26).

7. The Baptism in the Holy Spirit

All believers are entitled to, should expect, and earnestly seek the promise of the baptism in the Holy Spirit. With it comes the enduement of power for life and service, the bestowment of the gifts, and their uses in the work of the ministry. (Luke 24:49, Acts 1:4-8, 1 Corinthians 12:1-31)

8. The Return of Christ

Jesus is coming back for His bride, the Church. the dead in Christ along with those still alive will be gloriously reunited with Jesus for eternity. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, Romans 8:23, Titus 2:13, 1 Corinthians 15:51-52)
